Simply, Waseda University is a "Melting Pot of Nationality and Race", owing to the number of people from around the world who come to Waseda University for study and or research. Moreover, it is a "Melting Pot of Regions" because people from all across Japan come to Waseda University. Finally Waseda University is a "Melting Pot of Discussion " because students discuss and share values brought by students of different nationalities and from diverse races and regions. When International students arrive at Waseda University, they are usually quite surprised as they discover, and meet so many students from so many diverse origins and ethnic backgrounds studying at tWaseda. Moreover, they have a chance to hear a variety of opinions from international students and Japanese students alike. They are also surprised by the friendships made with other students even though they have different values and opinions. Waseda students understand and respect each other's differences, an essential skill to embody in the increasingly globalized world. Waseda University was from its inception, an internationally-focused university, welcoming students from neighboring Asian countries only 10 years after its establishment in 1882. We continue to follow this tradition with many eminent leaders in Asia having studied at Waseda University.
