1. Qualification
a At the time of application, students must be enrolled as undergraduate students at universities with exchange agreements with Waseda University. Students must be continuously enrolled as undergraduate students until the end of the exchange study period at Waseda University.
* Faculty members and research assistants are not eligible to apply.
b Students demonstrating excellent academic and personal records at their universities.
c Students having strong motivation as well as a clear study plan in any field available at Waseda University and who are likely to benefit from study in Japan.
d Students must have completed at least 12 years of school education or the equivalent in a country other than Japan.

2. Requirements
a For application to the undergraduate schools listed below, one of the following is required:
Level 1(N1) of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test, or a minimum score of 220 on the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU).
  • School of Law
  • School of Education
  • School of Commerce
  • School of Social Sciences
  • School of Fundamental Science and Engineering
  • School of Creative Science and Engineering
  • School of Advanced Science and Engineering
  • School of Humanities and Social Sciences
  • School of Culture, Media and Society
  • School of Human Sciences (Located in Tokorozawa Campus in Saitama-ken)
  • School of Sports Sciences (Located in Tokorozawa Campus in Saitama-ken)
b For application to the undergraduate schools listed below, one of the following is required:
Level 1(N1) of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test, a minimum score of 220 on the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU), TOEFL 550 (CBT 213, iBT 80) or IELTS 6.0.

3. Undergraduate schools NOT open to exchange students
  • School of Letters, Arts and Sciences T*
  • School of Letters, Arts and Sciences II **

* In 2007, the School of Letters, Arts and SciencesT and the School of Letters, Arts and SciencesU were reorganized and have changed to the School of Humanities and Social Sciences and the School of Culture, Media and Society. Beginning in the 2009 academic year, admission for the exchange program will be accepted only for the newly established School of Humanities and Social Sciences and the School of Culture, Media and Society. The School of Letters, Arts and SciencesT and the School of Letters, Arts and SciencesU will not accept exchange students any longer.

Students who may require additional support due to health conditions, please contact the CIE in advance so that we can make the necessary preparations to ensure you have a safe and enjoyable stay in Japan. Such health conditions will have no impact on the application screening process.
