1. The JASSO Scholarship

The JASSO (Japan Student Services Organization) scholarship is open to all exchange students nominated by Waseda University partner universities. In order to qualify for this scholarship, students must pass both a Waseda screening process and a JASSO screening process (only applicants with a minimum G.P.A. of 2.30 on the JASSO evaluation scale are eligible to apply). For detailed information on the JASSO evaluation scale, please make sure to check the following PDF file:

JASSO will provide the following financial assistance through the host institution in Japan (as of January 2009):
(1) Scholarship (80,000 yen per month)
(2) Travel and Settling in Subsidy of 80,000 yen (subject to change. Received once, at the time of arrival in Japan. It will be provided one and a half to two months after arrival.)

2. The Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho, Ministry of Education,
Culture, Sports, Science and Technology: MEXT) Scholarship

* Available with September admission only (arrival date will be September)

The Japanese government (Monbukagakusho) scholarship is open to all exchange students nominated by Waseda partner universities in countries that have official diplomatic relations with Japan.

The admission period under this scholarship is limited to September. April admission is not available. In order to qualify for this scholarship, students must pass a screening process at Waseda University and at Monbukagakusho (MEXT).
