入学時期の延期をされる方へ/For those postponing their time of enrollment

(1)このたびの震災を受け、入学時期を2011年9月または2012年4月に延期される方で、在留資格認定証明書(COE)をお持ちの方

今お持ちの在留資格認定証明書(COE)は失効になりますので、在留資格認定証明書をあらたに取得する必要があります。
再申請をする際には、お手元の「在留資格認定証明書(COE)」を入国管理局に返納する必要があるので、大切に保管しておいてください。
詳細は5月末または6月上旬頃、学部・研究科からの通知とともにお知らせいたします。

(2)このたびの震災を受け、入学時期を2011年9月または2012年4月に延期される方で、在留資格「留学」をお持ちの方

すでに日本に入国し、在留資格「留学」をお持ちの方は、その在留期限に関わらず、資格は失効となりますので、在留資格認定証明書(COE)をあらたに取得する必要があります。
詳細は5月末または6月上旬頃、学部・研究科からの通知とともにお知らせいたします。

なお、再入学時期までに日本に来る場合には、短期滞在ビザで入国するようご注意願います。

(1)For those who have a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) and postponing their enrollment to September 2011 or April 2012 due to the earthquake disaster

The current Certificate of Eligibility (COE) will become invalid so it is necessary to apply for another Certificate of Eligibility (COE).
In order to re-apply for another one it will be necessary to hand in the current Certificate of Eligibility (COE) to the Immigration Bureau by Waseda University so please keep it in a safe place.

Further information will be issued between late May and early June from your enrolled undergraduate/graduate school.

(2)For those who have a residence visa status of "College Student" and postponing their enrollment to September 2011 or April 2012 due to the earthquake disaster

Even if you have already entered Japan and have a residence visa status of "College Student", regardless of the visa's expiration date the visa will become invalid so it is necessary to apply for another Certificate of Eligibility (COE).

Further information will be issued between late May and early June from your enrolled undergraduate/graduate school.

In addition, please be careful that if you do intend on visiting Japan between now and the time of your future enrollment, that you enter the country with a short term visa.



入学辞退(退学)をされる方へ/For those who are withdrawing from their enrollment or leaving

このたびの震災を受け、入学辞退(退学)をされる方は、すでに取得している在留資格認定証明書が失効になりますので、ご注意ください。(すでに日本に入国し、在留資格「留学」をお持ちの方は、在留期限に関わらず、その資格は失効となります。)
現在「在留資格認定証明書(COE)」をお持ちの方は、入国管理局に「在留資格認定証明書(COE)」を返納する必要があるので、
1)代理申請を依頼した箇所へ、
2)「簡易書留・速達便」または国際宅配業者を利用し、送付してください。

For those who are withdrawing from their enrollment or leaving the university due to the earthquake disaster, please be aware that your Certificate of Eligibility (COE) will become invalid. 東北地方太平洋沖地震の発生に伴い、計画停電、交通機関の不安定なスケジュール、被災地出身の学生の状況を考慮して、4月1日 (金)2日(土)に予定されていた入学式は中止、前期授業開始を4月6日(水)より1ヵ月遅らせて、5月6日(金)といたします。2011年度前期スケジュールは以下の通りといたします。
As a result of the Tohoku Region Pacific Coast earthquake, entrance ceremonies scheduled for April 1 (Fri) and 2 (Sat) will be cancelled in consideration to students from affected areas and due to the unstable public transport system and the scheduled rolling blackouts. In addition, the beginning of classes will be postponed by a month: from April 6 (Wed) to May 6 (Fri). The detailed schedule for the first semester of the 2011 academic year is as follows.

To All International Students,

東北地方太平洋沖地震が起きたことに伴い、留学生のみなさんも、限られた情報の中、不安な気持ちでおられるかと思います。地震が起きて以来、留学生の方から多くの質問をいただいております。今回の地震が起こったことに対応して、早稲田大学に今年の4月に入学を予定されている学生(学部学生、大学院生、別科日本語専修課程学生、交換留学、国費留学生)、一時帰国をされている学生及び日本にいる学生に、早稲田大学で決まっていることをお伝えしたいと思います。
With the current situation surrounding the Tohoku Region Pacific Coast earthquake, we understand that many international students are feeling anxious due to the limited amount of available information. Since the earthquake occurred, we have received many questions from international students. In this announcement, we would like to set forth Waseda University's response to the earthquake. This applies to: students planning to enter Waseda University this April (undergraduate, graduate, Intensive Japanese Language Program, exchange, and MEXT students), students who are currently abroad, and students who are currently in Japan.

  • 4月1日、2日に予定している入学式の挙行の可否を検討しています。具体的なスケジュールは、一両日中にみなさんにお知らせいたします。
  • 2011年4月入学を予定している学生には、入学時期の延期を認めます。具体的な内容及び申請方法は、追ってお知らせいたします。
  • 4月中に留学生オリエンテーションを開催します。尚、来日を予定している学生、既に日本にいる学生の為に、来週、留学センターで行われる留学生オリエンテーションは予定通り行います(3月23日、24日、25日)。
  • 3月に予定されている卒業式は中止になりました。詳細は、各学部・大学院等のWebページで確認してください。
  • Waseda University is considering whether to cancel the entrance ceremony scheduled for April 1 and 2. An announcement will be released in the next couple of days regarding detailed schedules.
  • Students who are scheduled to enter Waseda University in April 2011 will be permitted to delay their admission period. Details and necessary procedures will be announced as soon as possible.
  • An international student orientation will be given in April. For students already in Japan, orientations held by CIE will also be held as scheduled next week, March 23, 24, 25.
  • The scheduled March graduation ceremonies have been cancelled. For details, please refer to the school or graduate school of your enrollment.

◎VISA / Re-entry to Japan
1.現在、在留資格認定証明書代理申請の結果をお待ちの方は、引き続き留学センターからの連絡をお待ちください。
やむを得ず、フライトの日程が変えられない等入国の日が迫っている場合は、留学センター([email protected])までご相談ください。
1. For students who are waiting for the COE application results:
Please wait for a notification from the CIE Office. If your entry to Japan is scheduled shortly (due to difficulty in changing your flight date etc.), please contact the CIE ([email protected]).

2.現在、在留期間更新許可の申請中や資格変更許可の申請中の方で、一時帰国を希望する方は、再入国許可を取る必要があります。
再入国許可は即日で発効されるものになりますので、最寄りの入国管理局にて必要な手続きを行ってください。
やむを得ず、再入国許可を取得しないまま帰国した場合、現在の在留資格「留学」は失効となり、再度留学ビザを申請をする必要があります。
再入国許可申請についてはこちらをご参照ください。
2. For students who want to leave Japan temporarily while waiting for permission for extending period of stay or for changing his/her status of residence:
You must obtain a re-entry permit, and it is issued in a day. Please go to the nearest Immigration Bureau and take necessary procedures.If you re-enter Japan without a re-entry permit, your current visa status (Student) will be revoked. In this case, you must apply for a new visa (Student).

既に皆様がご存じのように、2011年3月11日に巨大な地震および津波が日本の東北地方を襲い、大きな被害をもたらしました。震央より380キロメートル離れているため、早稲田大学では、現時点まで被害の報告はありません。 一方、東京地域においての交通および通信システムは、未だに不安定な状態が続いております。 地震災害後、早稲田大学の対応については随時、大学もしくは留学センターのホームページに掲載いたしますので、ご確認ください。
◎To those who are concerned, this is to inform you about the situation in Tokyo after the massive earthquake and tsunami hit and caused severe damage to the northeast of Japan on 11th of March 2011. For Tokyo is about 380 kilometers away from the center of this earthquake, Waseda University has not been reported of any loss at this point. However, transportation and telecommunication system have been unstable, and further assessment for the damages is remaining in Tokyo. The latest information concerning Waseda University's measures corresponding to the earthquake will be updated on the webpage of university and the Center for International Education. Please pay close attention to these latest announcements.

2011年4月に入学を予定している学生へ
以下の留学センター主催オリエンテーションは、予定通りに行います。
  1. 3月23日(水)と24日(木)に予定されている交換留学生、およびダブルディグリー留学生向けオリエンテーション。
  2. 3月25日(金)に予定されている留学生オリエンテーション(正規生・科目等履修生向け)。
  3. 4月5日(火)に予定されている国費留学生オリエンテーション。
*参加できなかった学生には、4月中に別途オリエンテーションを開催します。
*スケジュールは、変更する可能性がありますので、定期的に情報をチェックして頂くようお願いします。

◎To students who are going to enter our university from April, 2011:
The following orientations by the Center for International Education will be held as scheduled.

  1. Orientations on 3/23 and 3/24 for exchange students and double-degree program students.
  2. Orientation on 3/25 for international students (degree-seeking students and non-degree students)
  3. Orientation on 4/5 for MEXT scholarship students.
* We are going to hold a orientation for those who cannot attend the above scheduled orientation.
