

As of the academic year 2010, the Graduate School of Letters, Arts and Sciences offers 19 courses in the master's program and 20 courses in the doctoral program, with approximately 400 students in each program, actively involved in a truly wide variety of research. Among them are 37 students from overseas in the master's program and 28 in the doctoral program. In addition, there are 5 students from other countries registered as auditors. The Graduate School of Letters, Arts and Sciences is one of the largest-scale graduate programs in the humanities in Japan.
Waseda University's Graduate School of Letters, Arts and Sciences—comprising a two-year master's program and a three-year doctoral program—is Japan's largest graduate program in the humanities, consisting of a wide range of specialties including philosophy, psychology, sociology, literature, history and the arts. Since its reorganization as a graduate school over a half century ago, it has continued unceasing efforts in academic studies and in sending out the results of its research.
