As nanomaterials will play a key role in science and technology in the 21st century, the objectives of this symposium are in providing an interdisciplinary forum for scientists engaged in the full spectrum of research, development, application, and to discuss the current status and recent developments of these materials with a focus on the chemistry and practical approaches. In addition, the meeting will provide an opportunity to overview the field by covering a wide range of topics. Themes have been selected to accommodate a wide range of interests to facilitate interdisciplinary interactions in both academic fields and industrial technology.
The symposium will take place at the International Conference Center at Waseda University, which is one of the oldest and the most prestigious universities in Japan and is located in downtown Tokyo, Shinjuku area. The conference site and the anexed hotel (Rihga Royal Hotel Tokyo) are accessible by either train or limousine bus from the New Tokyo International Airport (Narita) within 2 hours.

Language
The official language of the symposium is English. No simultaneous translation facilities will be provided.
Climate
The beginning of June is early summer in Tokyo. Temperatures are usually in the range of 20 to 25 ºC with relatively high humidity. Light summer clothing is recommended, and casual clothing is encouraged during the conference.
Currency and Credit Cards
The currency in Japan is the Japanese Yen (¥) (approx. ¥100=US$0.85[December, 2005]). Visa, American Express, and Master Cards are normally accepted at hotels, department stores, shops and restaurants. There is no custom of tipping in Japan. Tips are usually included in the bill as a service charge.
Electrical Appliances
Japan operates on 100 Volts for electrical appliances. The frequencies is 50 Hz in eastern Japan, including Tokyo.
Time
The time in Japan is Greenwich time +9.
*Insurance
The organizer of MAM-06 cannnot accept responsibility for any expenses incurred by participants as a result of illness, accidents, or other incidents. Participants are encouraged to obtain their own travel insurance (medical, personal accident, and luggage) before leaving their home country.
A welcome reception and a Japanese-style banquet are planned. As breaks from the scientific schedule, we will prepare a short evening trip to Shinjuku (night view from skyscraper) and special events of Japanese traditional performances. They will allow you to sample Japan's unique culture and enjoy the bustle of Tokyo. The symposium includes an excursion (one-day trip) to the UNESCO world heritage "Nikko", famed for the shrine complex and hot springs.
Oral and poster contributions of papers covering any area of the symposium topics are encouraged. The traditional format of the symposium includes plenary and invited lectures and contributed papers. Poster sessions will be an important part of the program including several poster awards. Symposium Proceedings will be published and distributed at the symposium.
Although the poster deadline has passed, late poster submissions will be accepted. However, the inclusion in the Abstract Book cannot be guaranteed.
