研究テーマ

My research focuses on professional communication topics such as accounting scandals and ethical decision making, leadership, presentation skills, and cultural communicatoin.

メッセージ

“Just Communicate”…The accounting profession is becoming increasingly global, so the value of effective English language communication skills for accounting professionals is growing. The courses I offer are designed to increase a wide range of business communication abilities, including professional presentation, international negotiation, and business writing. I believe that English language education in Japan focuses too much on grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary. My strategy is to give students the practical skills and confidence required to effectively express opinions and ideas in professional settings, building on the technical English language study students did in earlier school courses.

1986 B.A. Speech Communication; 1990 M.A. Speech Communication; 1998 Ph.D. Speech Communication/ Cultural Communication (all from Univ. of Washington). 2005-2010 Professor of Business Communication, Graduate School of Accounting, Tohoku University; 2010- Professor, Graduate School of Accountancy, Waseda University.
