Shigeru Miyagawa

Shigeru Miyagawa served on the original MIT team that proposed OpenCourseWare. He is Professor of Linguistics and holds a Chair in Japanese Language and Culture at MIT. His linguistics publications include several books and nearly fifty articles. He also runs a laboratory for interactive media. StarFestival, which looks at growing up in a multicultural society, received the Best of Show at the MacWorld Exposition and the Irwin Sizer Award for the Most Significant Contribution to MIT Education. Visualizing Cultures, in collaboration with the Pulitzer Prize historian John Dower, won the 2004 MIT Class of 1960 Innovation in Education Award, and has been recognized by the U.S. National Endowment for the Humanities as an outstanding humanities educational website. The educational technology magazine Converge chose him as one of twenty national "Shapers of the Future." He received his B.A. in linguistics from the International Christian University (Tokyo) and his M.A. and Ph.D. in linguistics from the University of Arizona.

Yong - Jin Park

Dr. Yong-Jin Park has been a faculty member of Hanyang University, Seoul, since 1978. Currently he is a Director-Elect of IEEE Region 10, Representative of Korea Section of IEICE, Visiting Professor of Waseda University, and Honorary President of KIISE.

He received his B.E., M.E. and Ph.D. degrees, all in Electronic Engineering from Waseda University in 1969, 1971 and 1978, respectively. He visited the Department of Computer Science, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, as a visiting Associate Professor from 1983 to 1984. He also visited Computing Laboratory, University of Kent, Canterbury, England from 1990 to 1991 as a research fellow. He was the President of Open Systems Interconnection Association, from 1991 to 1992, the Chairman of IEEE Seoul Section from 1999 to 2000, and President of KIISE (Korea Institute of Information Scientists and Engineers) in 2003, and Director of the Board of Advanced Network Forum during 2006-2008. As international activities, He was the Director of Secretariat of APAN (Asia Pacific Advanced Network) during 1999 –, which is a consortium for high-performance network for research and development on advanced next generation applications and services in Asia-Pacific region., Secretary of IEEE Region 10 (Asia-Pacific region) during 2002-2003. In addition, he was an invited Professor at Chuo University, Tokyo, in 1998, and has been a Visiting Professor at Waseda University, Tokyo, since 1999. He also was a Head of Research Institute of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Hanyang University during 2001-2004.
His research interests are currently New Generation Internet Network Technologies, Wireless/Mobile Networks and Ubiquitous/Sensor Networks.
